AOE2 MILITARY ANALYSISAnalyze AoE2 army composition by purpose, not army size.
An Age of Empires II replay can show what units were produced and how military production developed during the match. The useful question is whether those units answered the opponent, could be sustained by the economy and complemented the player's allies. A large final total does not prove that the composition was efficient.

01Start with what was actually produced
A build order describes an intention; the replay shows execution. Count the unit lines that were really trained and compare them with the point in the game when they appeared. This separates a planned composition from one that was actually funded and maintained.
02Check the opponent's main threat
Army size alone does not tell you whether a fight is favorable. Identify the opponent's primary damage unit and ask whether your composition has a practical answer. A numerically larger force can still be inefficient when most of its value is concentrated in a unit line that is being hard-countered.
03Look for complementary units
