AGE OF EMPIRES II: DEFINITIVE EDITIONHow to analyze an AoE2 replay without guessing.
A replay is useful when it answers a specific question: what happened, which measurable signals support that conclusion, and what should change in the next match. AOE2TEAM focuses on replay-derived timings, army production, activity and team context while keeping unavailable facts explicitly unavailable.

01Age timings
Feudal and Castle timings matter because they show when your economy converted into access to stronger units and technologies. Read them together with the strategy: a later age is not automatically a mistake if the player invested in pressure, defense or economy first.
02Army composition
Look at what each player actually produced and whether that composition answered the opponent. A large army can still be inefficient when it is built into a strong counter, while a mixed composition can protect a teammate's main unit line.
03Production and spending
Training pace and military production value help separate a plan that was merely selected from one that was continuously funded. Compare these signals with match length and the moment pressure began instead of treating one raw total as a skill score.
04Activity and commands
Commands per minute can reveal periods of lower activity, but activity alone does not explain a win or loss. The useful question is whether the commands produced a measurable gameplay consequence: army, pressure, development or support.
05Team coordination
In team games, inspect whether allied unit choices complement one another and whether pressure signals happen in the same part of the timeline. Replay evidence can support coordination conclusions without pretending to know exact battlefield distance or physical arrival time when positions are unavailable.
06One next target
The most useful replay review ends with a concrete change for the next game. AOE2TEAM's TeamEdge compares replay-derived metrics and context to surface the clearest improvement target rather than burying the player under dozens of unrelated tables.
WHAT THE DATA CAN SUPPORTSeparate measured replay evidence from inference.
AOE2TEAM can use the official replay path to inspect signals such as unit production, age progression, commands and trusted pressure events when the replay exposes them. It does not invent exact resource stockpiles, battlefield positions, physical ally arrival times or other facts that the current parser cannot measure reliably.
